Introduction
Le Grand Marché du Sol strives to make its digital applications accessible to everyone, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
Scope
This statement concerns the website legrandmarchedusol.com, in English and French, and was drafted on 16 October 2026.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA, due to the non-conformities and exceptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The following elements are currently not fully accessible:
- PDF documents (technical datasheets, installation and maintenance instructions) are not sufficiently readable for screen readers.
- Text displayed in images and drawings within PDF documents is not accessible.
- Some decorative photos have no description, as they do not add information.
Non-accessibility due to the nature of the product
Detailed product photos. A floor is chosen based on colour, appearance and texture. Blind, visually impaired and colour-blind people may experience difficulties distinguishing between colours and shades. Our product descriptions name the colour of each floor, but a specific colour or shade is very subjective and therefore difficult to describe according to a standard.
Installation instructions. Photos, drawings and instructions for floor installation contain visual guidance aimed at supporting the installer (professional or DIY enthusiast). These elements are almost impossible to convey accurately and are therefore not available to blind and visually impaired people. Furthermore, we strongly discourage blind and visually impaired people from installing floors themselves due to the dangers associated with cutting and sawing.
Reasons for non-compliance
The elements mentioned result from the format of the PDF documents supplied with our products.
Already in place
- Flashing images: the website does not contain flashing images.
- Moving elements: the only motion is a subtle fade-in when scrolling. It is switched off automatically if you have enabled “reduce motion” on your device.
- Font and button sizes: all text is sufficiently large and readable, and buttons are large enough to provide a pleasant experience for people with limited fine motor skills.
- Colours and contrast: text is shown in near-black on a light background for high contrast.
- Structure: pages use clear headings, the language of each page is specified, and the website can be used with a keyboard and at any screen size.
Remedial measures
- PDF documents will receive a renewed structure to improve their readability for screen readers.
- On request, we provide the content of any document in an accessible format.
